Description
The purpose of this qualification is for learners to develop the knowledge and practical competences required to deal with a range of workplace first aid situations.
The TQUK Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) is aimed at learners who are already working, or preparing to work, in industry. It is usually delivered as a three-day programme of training and assessment, allowing successful learners to act as first aiders in the workplace.

- Roles and responsibilities of the First Aider
- Assessing an incident
- Recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness
- Assisting a casualty with major injury or illness
- Chest injuries
- Spinal injuries
- Anaphylaxis
Course duration
This qualification has a recommended course duration of three days. The course duration may be increased to meet additional learning needs if required, but it cannot be reduced.
Certificate validity
If this qualification is being used to meet Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements, it is valid for three years. Learners will need to repeat the qualification after this period, although annual refresher training is recommended.
Entry requirements
There are no specific entry requirements. Learners should have a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy, or equivalent.
The recommended minimum age for this qualification is 14 years.
Guided learning hours
Guided Learning Hours are made up of all contact time, guidance, or supervision provided by a lecturer, supervisor, tutor, trainer, or other appropriate education or training provider.
GLH for this qualification is 18 hours.
