Becoming a registered charity is much more than simply receiving a charity number.

It opens new doors for Richards Medical Community Trust and gives us even greater opportunities to develop the work we are already doing within our communities.

Our aim has always been simple: to make lifesaving knowledge, practical skills and community support more accessible.

Through our volunteers, we provide community first aid education, CPR and AED awareness, training within schools and community groups, support around public access defibrillators, and medical support at local events.

Becoming a registered charity gives us a stronger foundation from which to grow that work.

It also opens up opportunities to apply for charitable grants and funding, develop new partnerships, increase fundraising opportunities and invest further into equipment, training and projects that directly benefit the communities we serve.

Built by Volunteers

One of the things we are most proud of is that Richards Medical Community Trust is built around volunteers.

People give up their evenings, weekends and spare time because they genuinely believe in what we are trying to achieve.

Some help at events.

Some teach lifesaving skills.

Some support the organisation behind the scenes.

Some help with administration, fundraising, governance, equipment and community engagement.

Every single contribution matters.

Reaching registered charity status would not have been possible without the people who have helped build Richards Medical into what it is today.

To our trustees, volunteers, supporters, partner organisations, event organisers and everybody who has believed in what we are doing — thank you.

Why We Exist

Richards Medical Community Trust was created with a belief that lifesaving knowledge should not be restricted by somebody's ability to pay.

Knowing how to perform CPR, use a defibrillator, help somebody who is choking or provide basic first aid can make an enormous difference in the minutes before professional help arrives.

That is why community education remains such an important part of our work.

We want more people to feel confident enough to step forward when somebody needs help.

And as a registered charity, we now have even greater potential to reach more communities, schools, organisations and individuals.

This Is Only the Beginning

Receiving our charity registration is something we are incredibly proud of, but it is not the finish line.

If anything, it marks the beginning of the next chapter for Richards Medical Community Trust.

There is so much more we want to do.

More free community training.

More work with schools.

More support for public access defibrillators.

More opportunities for volunteers.

More equipment.

More partnerships.

And ultimately, more people within our communities equipped with the confidence and knowledge to help save a life.

Nearly a year of hard work has brought us to this point.

Now the real work continues.

We cannot wait to see where the next chapter takes us.
